This week the 10th Grade will be starting their unit on Genetics and Patterns of Inheritance. We will be growing garden pea plants to observe different traits and then cross pollinating the plants to determine which traits are dominant and recessive. Some traits are flower color, stem color and whether the stem is hairy or not.

In Physical Science, students are working on creating their own Bohr Model Periodic Table to show their understanding of atomic structure and the periodic table. Each element needed to have its name, symbol, atomic number, and a Bohr Model drawing. Once each element was completed they needed to be arranged in the proper order. Pictured is one student's work in progress.

As of 2022, according to the Infinite Dial, 62% of Americans will have listened to a podcast ever in their lives. This is an estimated 177 million Americans and an increase from 57%, the percentage of the same statistic in 2021. From this figure, 38% of Americans listened to a podcast last month and 26% last week. These are large numbers considering Insider Intelligence estimates that going into 2024 there are around 464 million podcast listeners worldwide. Two ELO students have chosen to learn more about this rapidly growing industry, learning the equipment and how using data can help you choose the content, length, and target audience.

Preparing for upcoming tests can sometimes be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Today in Ms. Gray's class students participated in a game show-style review to prepare for their upcoming history test. What are some ways to stay organized and prepare for upcoming tests?

Senior Lilly Steves organized a toy drive and teddy bear toss to support the Milton Parks and Recreation and Public Works Department's toy drive. On Tuesday, December 12th the Nute High School Basketball teams hosted the Newmarket Mules for a triple header game night. Between the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys games, spectators were invited to participate in a Teddy Bear Toss aiming for one of the three prizes donated by Mr. Decker, Ms. Neilson, and Board Member Travis Corriveau. On Wednesday, all donations were delivered to the Parks and Rec Department at the Emma Ramsey Center. Thank you to everyone who supported this event and came to cheer on the Rams!
